Meet the herd

Every Zooish animal lives on our place year-round and gets handled daily. Get to know a few of the personalities behind Zooish.

Highland cow

Clover

With her shaggy coat and curious personality, Clover is easy to love. Clover stands still for brushing longer than any kid can stand still for a photo, and she has never once met a scratch she didn't lean into.

  • Loves: a curry brush behind the ears
  • Fun fact: that shaggy coat is two layers deep

Pickles

The greeter. Pickles parks himself at the gate and makes sure every guest gets a nose bump on the way in. Those ears are his best feature and he knows it.

  • Loves: carrots, cut long and thin
  • Fun fact: donkeys remember friends for years

Shelby

Our quiet-corner star. Shelby takes life at her own pace and gives guests a chance to slow down, look closely, and discover something new.

  • Loves: hibiscus flowers and warm grass
  • Fun fact: sulcatas can live past 70

Animal care & guest safety

How we keep it safe

  • A handler stays inside every pen for the entire visit. Animals are never left alone with guests.
  • Every guest washes up at our station on the way out. Soap, water and towels are on us.
  • Animals are vet-checked on a regular schedule and are current on everything they need.
  • Animals get regular breaks to rest and recharge.
  • Hot day? Animal comfort comes first. Above 95°F we shorten sessions and add shade and water breaks.
  • Need our insurance certificate for your church, school or venue? We email it the same day.

"Our residents still ask about the tortoise. The handlers were patient and let everyone hold a bunny for as long as they wanted."

Frequently asked

How far in advance should I book?

Spring and fall weekends go first, often four to six weeks out. Weekdays and winter dates are usually open with a week or two of notice. Send the form and we'll tell you right away.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain is fine; we bring a canopy. If it's storming or lightning, we'll move your date at no charge or set up indoors if you have room.

Can guests feed the animals?

Yes. Backyard Barnyard and The Whole Zooish include feed cups for every guest. Please don't bring outside snacks for the animals, since some foods can make them sick.

Is it safe for toddlers?

Our handlers help guide age-appropriate interactions, with a parent or caregiver staying alongside young children.

Do you come indoors?

Lap Pals works indoors anywhere. Larger animals can come into gyms, barns and fellowship halls with mats down. Just let us know the space when you book.

Where do you travel?

We're based in Harrison and travel free within 30 miles. We go up to 60 miles for $2 a mile past the free zone, covering Boone, Carroll, Marion, Newton and Searcy counties and into southern Missouri.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're a USDA-licensed exhibitor with liability coverage, and we'll email a certificate of insurance to your venue on request.
